CIB Credit Risk Korea team works closely with business partners from CCBSI (Corporate Client Banking and Specialized Industries), CIB GCB (Global Corporate Banking), Syndicated & Leveraged Finance, Strategic Derivatives, Illiquid Credit Finance, Trading, other Credit teams, and the Korea CRO.
The team focuses on due diligence, structuring, negotiation, documentation and determination of risk rating for such transactions along with portfolio management responsibilities post-closing including ongoing credit monitoring and review work.
As a Vice President in CIB Credit Risk Team, you will serve as the Credit Officer for both CCBSI and CIB clients in Korea. The VP Credit Officer is the primarily responsible for acting as credit risk manager for a portfolio of CCBSI clients and transactions, and will also cover CIB clients and transactions, working with head of CIB Credit Risk team in Korea.
Job Responsibilities
The key roles and responsibilities would include but not limited to:
- Proactively manage exposures on a portfolio of CCBSI and CIB clients.
- Actively participate in client due diligence and independently challenge credit on-boarding initiated by frontline Bankers.
- Closely works in great partnership with coverage banking officers, syndication, and other partners to risk grade borrowers, analyze and approve credit requests, structure credit facilities, and negotiate credit agreements and other loan documentation.
- Responsible for on-going monitoring and risk management of an assigned portfolio of credit clients.
- Actively interact with key stakeholders including client coverage and product bankers.
- Closely communicate with CCBSI Credit Risk team in North America and Singapore.
- Responsible for managing and mentoring team members and act as an escalation point of contact for stakeholders
Required Skillset, Capabilities & Qualifications
- 8+ years of work experience in credit risk management for CIB and Commercial Bank Corporate clients.
- In-depth experience in covering Mid (required) to Large Cap Corporate clients in Korea
- Strong knowledge in underwriting practices, industry standards and regulatory requirements relevant to commercial banking and adequate experience of conducting client due diligence independently.
- Good product knowledge of a wide range of lending, derivative and treasury services products and documentation associated with these products.
- Ideally self-starter, able to work independently, a team player with demonstrable communication, structuring and corporate finance skills.
- Fluent in Korean and English with strong written and verbal communication skills
- People management or client coverage experience will be a plus.
