Sustainability Communications Coordinator
Purpose of role: To support the business to build a deeper understanding of Primark’s approach to building a more sustainable and ethical business across all audiences through reporting and digital communications, aimed at driving reappraisal of the Primark brand and delivering increased advocacy.

Reporting and external communications:
  • Manage content and data collection for external communications in ethics and sustainability for Corporate Affairs. This includes reporting requirements, external benchmarks and NGO enquiries, including the Modern Slavery Statement.
  • Analyse benchmarking and reporting performance to inform communications and reporting strategy going forwards.
  • Work closely with the other functions with a remit in reporting (Public Affairs, ESG finance, Primark Cares and the Environmental Sustainability and Ethical Trade teams) to help ensure we have a constant framework and approach for communication requirements and deadlines across teams.
  • Manage reporting calendar and internal working group to ensure the timely delivery of any external reporting requirements.
  • Manage ethical trade enquiries and support customer service to deliver effective and timely responses.
  • Work cross-functionally to inform and maintain necessary processes for data collection, monitoring and reporting, including analysing results and delivering feedback to highlight key lessons learned.

Reporting and external communication
  • Work with wider teams to develop ESG case studies and content for the website, including analysing stakeholder expectations to identify gaps and opportunities to drive transparency.
  • Support the Digital Communications Manager to conduct regular gap analysis of the website and work with relevant teams to update along with recent progress or changes to the business to meet the needs of our stakeholders – including customer education and stakeholder reappraisal – and in line with the shifting legislative environment where we operate.
  • Ensure the successful execution of the annual Global Sourcing Map updates, including monitoring deadlines for data collection, uploading and testing alongside the Digital Communications Manager
  • Build trusted and collaborative relationships across the Primark Cares team and the Ethical Trade and Environmental Sustainability team, as a core member of the Corporate Affairs function.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • 3-5 years plus experience with a proven track record of data management and reporting in a corporate or sustainability/social purpose environment.
  • A passion about sustainability and the environment, with an understanding of the issues, the risks and the language.
  • A track record of operating within complex, very fast‐moving consumer goods or retail markets (multiple international territories).
  • Experience in working within a decentralised group structure and cross-team collaboration.
  • Experience building advocacy through reporting and evidence with external stakeholders.
  • Experience of working in a large complex organisatio in a collaborative manner.
  • Highly organised and strong attention to detail.
  • Results orientated, able to manage timely delivery in a challenging environment.
  • A passion for and understanding of international fashion retail.
