Public Health Emergency Supervisor - MaineCare
The positions will provide critical support to OFI’s MaineCare (Medicaid) eligibility and enrollment function in preparation for and during the unwinding of the public health emergency continuity of coverage requirement. Those functions will include supervising Public Health Emergency Associates who will be navigating various state systems to do data entry and analysis; corresponding with clients in writing and on the phone as needed; and otherwise preparing MaineCare cases for state staff to process. The main purpose is to expedite the decision-making for and processing of tens of thousands of MaineCare cases for which eligibility must be re-determined in the 12-14 month unwinding period, and the expected result is for OFI to increase its output capacity by several hundred cases per day.
Knowledge and Skills
- Competency in applying a solid knowledge of the principles and practices of quality customer service to perform complex work in assisting the public with applications, fees, examinations, or social services that have an eligibility or compliance component.
- The ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Skilled in telephone communication with clients/the public and using telephony systems.
- Supervise Public Health Emergency Associates MaineCare. PHE Associates will prepare cases for processing to include data entry in the OFI eligibility systems, applying relevant program policies to specific case circumstances, and identifying and requesting verifications as needed.
- Update client addresses in ACES, including outreach by phone or otherwise as necessary.
- Field phone calls from the public to answer basic questions, provide information about case status, or triage to eligibility specialists.
This will be a fully remote, full-time role, with hours expectations aligning with Department staff -- eight working hours on a set schedule that can start as early as 7:00am and go until no later than 5:00pm, with 30 or 60 minutes for lunch.
