Support Worker - High Needs [New Zealand]


 

This vacancy is for Support Workers in the Auckland area to support people to remain active, safe and independent in their own homes and communities.

What does a Support Worker do?
Our support workers are caring people with a commitment to providing the best possible support to our clients. Each client will have individual care requirements and you will support them with all elements of daily living such as personal care, food preparation, mobility or bowel/urinary continence care and ensure medication needs are met. You may also help our clients to participate in the community, undertake shopping for them or help them to take part in their hobbies.

For this role it is essential to have:


  • Level 2 or above qualification in health and wellbeing.
  • Experience in dealing with challenging behaviours.
  • Resilience when dealing with challenging behaviours.
  • Hoist experience.
  • Understanding and knowledge of te ao Māori.

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Have a full or restricted driver's licence.
  • Genuinely love working with people who need support and seeing them thrive.
  • Be intuitive and responsive to people's feelings and needs.
  • Be open to working alongside families to create a good life for the client.
  • Be a good planner- able to think of and plan activities both in-house and out and about.
  • Commit to following protocols to ensure safety of the people we support.
  • This role involves shift work, including evenings and weekends and overnights and being reliable and punctual is important.
  • Eligible to work in New Zealand.
